I will be looking at the BA 'to fly to serve' advert and the points it's showing .The advert shows the very important representation of the staff, how they are present and the way they are presented to serve. It reinforces that these are traditional values and it’s the staff that keep these original values going. It focuses more on the staff than the customers .The BA airline advert I watched on YouTube was very impressive as it went from the first plane to the most modern plane. One very important part of the advert was when Concord appears in the advert. Concord is a very important part of British engineering as Britain created her and was so very proud of her. It is a very iconographic plane .It keeps you interested on the whole advert.
This advert is showing that throughout its long history it is a very reliable and trustworthy airline. This advert makes it seem like a very sophisticated and reliable airline as it shows the contemporary side and that the airline is continualy up grading the BA planes. It’s stating they are unique compared to other airlines. It’s saying the dedication of the staff makes BA who they are today, without them BA wouldn’t be here or as great . It is a tribute to the dedication of the staff who have worked for British Airways for making it how great it is today. I think that this advert is trying to appeal to the new generation, the younger people as they will start traveling on their own and they need to make the important decision which airline to choose . So British Airways is having the head start to get them interested in choosing them and making them a loyal customer .
This advert is trying to compete with the Virgin advert as that advert makes it seem like it’s a premier service as it shows a red carpet going to the plane. So therefore BA are trying to compete with the young generation to get them to choose their advert. I would say this advert is appealing to both older and younger generations , as in the first part it shows older planes which might be very relevant and familiar to the older generation as they might have used those planes, whereas the younger generation would not have flown on them . The ending quotes “ the same four word stitched into every uniform of every captain takes their command, To fly. To serve “. This is a very important quote as it is stating that from the start to present the words that were stitched in the uniforms from the most basic plane with the most basic uniform show they tried and they succeeded as they were very loyal to British Airways and they are still trying and still succeeding. The creative team that made this video explained that the staff were involved in making this campaign, they are showing the staff as dedicated coming from a long line of service to their customers. To sum up my points this advert is moving time on but not leaving the older people behind so it is a very clever message.
This is your second draft after individual verbal feedback and further class teaching on how to organize infromation using a topic sentence, paragraphs, evidence and paragraph markers linking paragraphs. This shows improvement: a clear grasp of how to analyse the language of the text, the target audience, the brand messages and values. You also compare the text to other examples: good. However, you will have to write in a little more detail about messages and values.
